Less Educated Younger Parents More Prone to Anger- Study

A recent study carried out by Scott Schieman, Sociology Professor at the University of Toronto, has revealed that younger parents, who are also less educated, tend to get angry more often than others. While more educated parents get angry as well, the frequency is lower as compared to those who have not received a complete education. The findings about the emotion have come after an analysis of data collected after a national survey of over 1,000 Americans aged 18 and above.

As per the study, the fact that younger people are more under stress with regards to "time pressures, economic hardship and interpersonal conflict at the workplace", makes them angrier as compared to their older counterparts. Having children to take care of at home only adds to the feelings of anger and drives young parents to act more aggressively. The research has also pointed out that women tend to get much more angry than men, and much quicker.

Experiencing higher amounts of financial strain is another reason why younger people grow angry more, a situation less frequently faced by older men and women.

"The sociological analysis of anger can shed light on the ways that the conditions of society influence emotional inequality", explained Mr. Schieman.

The details of the study are all set to publish in the International Handbook of Anger in January.
