Researchers have introduced a new test, with the help of which, they can easily identify all the gene defects in the body of patients to introduce the most suitable treatment for an early recovery from the disease cancer.
Yes, researchers have recently claimed that the newly introduced test would help them to detain all the gene defects in respective cancer suffering patients enabling the doctors to prescribe ‘smart drugs’ to the patients and thus, help them in increasing their chances of survival from the deadly illness.
This is certainly for the first time that the doctors could be facilitating the affected patients with a devise screening, which will screen the affected patients for mutations in 14 key cancer genes all at the same time.
The procedure of the new test will examine the tissues taken from tumors in the body and will be giving a firm report upon the same within three weeks. Following which, the patients will be offered the most effective drugs to target the only respective mutation that fuel their specific cancer.
US researchers have confirmed the availability of the new screening tests to serve the people in need, which initially had been used to treat only those patients, who suffered non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and other cancers.
It has always been hard for the doctors to discover mutations in the cancer affected patients, the successful number earlier has been only one in ten cases, which succeeded to discover their mutations but the new tests have made it easier for every case to discover mutation followed with an effective and early treatment for same.
Dr. Dora Dias-Santagata, who is Co-director of the Translational Research Laboratory in the Massachusetts General Hospital, said that “This test allows us to look for a defined set of common mutations that occur in cancer cells, but not in the other cells of the body”.
