NWQPHC to Head North West Rural and Regional Communities

NWQPHCIn order to provide better healthcare facilities to the natives of North West rural and regional communities, the Federal Government has appointed committee which would not only supervise the medical services, but would also ensure that people get best treatment.

The government is confident about its decision and has no doubt that North West Queensland Primary Health Care (NWQPHC) would bring positive changes in primary health care need. NWQHPC would work under the Medicare Local brand.

For 17 years, the NWQPHC has worked endlessly to improve medical conditions, said Dr. Bryan Connor, the Head of the North and West Queensland Primary Health Care. He has no doubt that NWQPHC would not only improve the existing medical services but would also help to bring communities closer to each other.

The NWQPHC would be looking Central and North West Queensland, which would cover 636,000 square kilometer region. Decision to club more regions was taken to provide an access to medical services. There are some communities, which bear the brunt due to vast distances, but not anymore as they would be covered by the NWQPHC.

Coverage of more areas would help the organization to expand its working area. When asked about preparations needed to cover vast distances, Connor confidently answered, "Our organization has built networks and connections with local communities, with doctors, and with a host of allied health and medical professionals servicing a vast area, so that we can meet the health needs of remote and regional communities”.

Smart working is needed at the moment and for that they are making people aware of the fact that ‘prevention is better than cure’, hence asking them to take proper care of themselves, so they do not need any medical emergency services.

Minister for Health and Ageing Nicola Roxon applauded the thinking of Connor and asked them to work in close network.
