Hormonal Contraception Makes You Less Likely to Reach Orgasm

ContraceptionHormonal contraceptive pills are rapidly gaining popularity among women all over the world, thanks to their essential effect and ease of use. However, health experts have now started doubting over the impacts of these contraceptives on the general health as well as on sexual life of the users. As per reports, experts have claimed that the pills may well result in dampening the sex lives of untold couples.

In this regard, a recent study, which was carried out by researchers at Indiana University, has claimed that women using hormonal contraceptives have not as much of sex as compared to women using other tried and tested methods of protection. In addition, the study revealed that the use of hormonal contraceptives limit the ability of a women to reach orgasm.

The researchers further acclaimed that those using other well-grounded methods of birth control, including condoms, withdrawal, etc., fair well in their sex life.

The study, which was steered by Nicole Smith at the Centre for Sexual Health Promotion, monitored the sex lives of nearly 1,101 women, half of whom used various hormonal controls, like the hormonal pill, ring or shot, patch, etc., while the rest of the and half of whom used non-hormonal forms of contraception, like withdrawal or condoms.

During the study, the researchers observed that both groups cherished the same level of romance, intimacy and general sexual satisfaction.

However, in terms of lubrication, levels of arousal, frequency of sex and the number of orgasms, it was observed that women who use hormonal control methods scored lower among the rest.

Ms. Smith claimed that in most cases, contraception is a magnificent approach for women willing for family planning, though a deeper research is still needed into the matter in order to address the sexual desires of women.
