New cruise terminal launched at Abu Dhabi The new tented cruise terminal at Mina Zayed, UAE would be able to accommodate 1300 passengers and it would provide a new shape to traffic management at the airport. The terminal developed by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, (ADTA), in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Ports Company has been designed for the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 cruise seasons.

Sprawling over 2,000 square metres, the terminal has two dedicated halls - one a luggage-handling facility, the other a passenger centre apart from space for various facilities.

HE Mubarak Al Muhairi, director general, ADTA added, "Cruise shipping has enjoyed strong recession-proof growth for many years. The market obviously ranges between low cost volume cruise business and very high end exclusive cruises - Abu Dhabi is targeting the higher end segment."

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) and the UAE national airline Etihad launched its destination promotion program in line with its policy to focus on the GCC market.

Mubarak Al Shamisi, Senior Overseas Offices Executive, ADTA said that GCC travelers accounted for a 25% rise in regional hotel guests in the first eight months of this year.
