The Indian consumers, yet again, have been gifted with a small sized car. Throwing competition to Nano, the Hyundai’s Eon has pledged to produce 150,000 units every year. The car is perfect Diwali gift for middle-class families.
The car will be sold in the range of Rs 2.69 lakh and Rs 3.71 lakh. The car manufacturers are of the view that the launch of Eon in India would expand its horizons in the country for medium and small sized cars. The car has no doubt given a competition to Nano. But, the group is determined of reducing the demand of Alto within the country.
The main competitor of Eon is Alto, which is one of the most favored cars for the middle class family group. In India, Alto is being sold in the same range as that of Eon. Every month, about 20,000 units of it are sold.
For production of Eon, the Hyundai Motor Co. invested large chunk of money, Rs 900 crore. It has been informed that after booking a record sale in the country, the car will be exported to other countries as well. The Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor Co, H W Park informed, “Later on we may consider exporting the Eon to markets in South America and South Africa but the present focus is on the Indian market”. The Hyundai Motor Co. is hopeful that the Indian consumer would appreciate their efforts and will invest in buying Eon.
