On Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released its latest report raising concerns over increased emergency hospitalization, especially for children and adolescents to cure brain injuries.
In addition, the report has claimed that various hospital records have reflected a significant hike of not less than 60% during last eight years, and marked increased knowledge of concussions as well as other head injuries for their significant contribution to increase the figures.
The Director of the CDC’s National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Dr. Linda C. Degutis claimed that presently parents and coaches are highly aware and increased awareness has played a role to take the figures at peak.
“The kids have been to blame, too, playing through symptoms and not reporting. That’s why we have to educate them about the dangers of playing through them”, commented the Co-Director of Boston University’s Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy, Dr. Robert Cantu.
The report claimed that majority of adolescents, aged between 10 and 19, are likely to receive severe injuries from a number of outdoor games such as football, soccer, basketball and even bicycling that accounts for 30.3% injuries.
