Dubai Metro ridership sets new record in September 2011 His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said that Dubai Metro is becoming life line of the city state with people availing its services continue to grow with every passing day.

Number of people used the Dubai Metro Green Line since opened for the public on 10/09/2011 till the end of September last (20 days) clocked 1.277 million passengers, setting a record in it.

Number of risers on Red Line hit 4,661,469 passengers in September. In all, a total of 5,938,461 passengers availed services of both the Red and Green Lines in September. Mattar Al Tayer said that Dubai Metro has changed the people's attitude about using public transport services. It also encouraged RTA to take more such projects for expediting growth of public transport network.

Al Tayer went on to add, "The number of the metro riders on both the Red & Green Lines across the Union Station is estimated as 30 thousand passengers per day and the ridership on the Green Line has consistently picked up towards the end of September. More passengers are expected to use the Metro with the onset of winter and the inflow of passengers to tourist and heritage attractions, particularly at Al Shindagha."

The biggest numbers of users were attracted by Al Fihaidi Station followed by Bani Yas Station and Oud Metha Station. He Union, Khalid bin Al Waleed, Deira City Center and Mall of the Emirates Stations also saw huge rush of people using services at the Red Lines of Dubai Metro.
