Scathing Federal Cuts in Elective Surgery Budget Spark Controversy

Scathing Federal Cuts in Elective Surgery Budget Spark ControversyIt seems like the controversy shrouding massive cuts of over $60 million over next three years from elective surgery budget would take its due course of time to settle down, as it’s being believed that this massive federal health cut could put the health care system of Tasmania under risk.

As the news hit the contours of the society, millions of patients waiting for surgeries are seeing a bleak future, while hospitals are mulling how to sustain the damaging cuts.

It has been reported that in order to achieve hospital productivity targets, saving would have to be escalated and for that to happen, spending has to be trimmed down.

Moreover, opposition leader Will Hodgman is of the opinion that lest the decision of federal budget cut is not being revoked, health care system would be left in a dithering condition and the maximum burden would have to be handled by suffering patients.

While the talks are still going on over the same, Tasmanian Premier Lara Giddings is of the opinion that the best possible option would be to hand over the state's health system to commonwealth.

However, it has been confirmed that the Health Minister Michelle O'Byrne is in serious discussion with Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon over weighing down various possibilities so that the crisis can be averted.
