Hassad Barwa, a subsidiary of Barwa Real Estate, has launched the Arakiya Farm in Qatar, an attempt to make the country self-sufficient in the short term in green fodder.
The project involves construction of an integrated farm with an area of 14mn sq m.
A company official stated that the first phase of the project will partially offset the shortage of fodder in the market, and the fodder will be offered at competitive prices, which is expected to lead to lower prices.
The total production of Arakiya Farm is expected to exceed 23,000 tonnes per year once its second phase is completed, the official added.
