Abu Dhabi envisages to construct three new electricity generation as well as water desalination facilities by fiscal 2016 with the aim to meet increasing demand from energy projects and a mounting population.
In a declaration, the company said that its upcoming facilities will have capacity of approximately 5,000 mega watts of power as well as about 300 million gallons per day of water in total.
The current installed capacity of Abu Dhabi stood at 10,000 Mega Watts.
Power demand in the emirate is planned to rise at an average 11% per year in the upcoming 10 years compared to an average of 7% in the previous 20 years.
