With proliferation of internet and technology, people from every walk of life have started to make its optimum use for routine services. A recently conducted survey by Ipsos, an international research company, claimed that over 70 per cent respondents of the survey prefer internet as better and convenient source of health related issues than doctor.
The survey based on questioning of 2000 respondents in the age group of 18 to 55 and commissioned by the National Health Insurance Company, Daman found 40 per cent of the respondents to be overweight to obese. The survey also reflects lifestyle and healthcare habits of the UAE residents.
Major topics of survey were current health and wellness concerns, knowledge of health-related issues, diet and nutrition, levels of physical activity, behavior changes and communication diseases.
Daman CEO Dr Michael Bitzer said, “The data gives us a snapshot of the current health climate; we plan to use this information to serve our members with products that suit their lifestyles, initiate relevant community health events and support local health initiatives. We see this as an opportunity to encourage the local community to get as involved in their own personal wellbeing as possible.”
