Beware of Infected Melons

ListeriaFollowing concerns over outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes, people are being advised not to consume melon as they are sought to be infected with the bacteria. It has been informed that the infected melons are already in the market for sale.

The consumers have been warned to be extra careful while consuming melons as the infected melons doesn’t carry any symptom of rottenness. It has been revealed by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that the bacteria has impacted as many as 84 lives and have led to death of 15 consumers. The outbreak has resulted in 19 states in total.

Expecting mothers, aged generation and children are most vulnerable to the bacteria. It is yet to be invested that how the bacteria infect the crops of melon. Following discovery of infected melon, the Northern Lights Produce Network Ltd has recalled its products from the market.

Following the outbreak, the True Leaf Farms has also called a recall of his products from the market. The bacterium Listeria monocytogenes can infect any of the food products ranging from meat, fruit and vegetables included. If an infected food is consumed then it may cause gastrointestinal problems, dizziness, and even convulsions.
