Women who drink coffee do not get depressed

Coffee2According to US researchers, there are 20 per cent lesser chances of women getting depressed if they consume coffee on a regular basis.

Number of coffee consumption stated by scientists helpful in lowering depression was four cups a day.

Across the world, central nervous system stimulant is coffee as it is frequently used as this. Caffeine is present in other things also but 80 per cent of caffeine consumption is through coffee.

Alberto Ascherio of Harvard School of Public Health said that a sense of well-being is experienced with coffee and there is a rush of energy with coffee consumption.

He said, “This short-term effect is what drives the consumption of caffeine. Here we are looking at long-term chronic use of caffeinated coffee.”

About 50000 women were taken for a study that concluded this and it was a health study of nurses. Depression was seen in any participant when the study began and the average age of these participants was 63.

Women were divided according to their coffee consumption and their were studied for about 10 years then.

It was seen that women who had coffee regularly were 20 per cent less likely to get depressed.
