The World Health Organization (WHO) has sent a team of experts to Lahore, Pakistan, as the menace of dengue continues to play havoc with the lives of Lahorites.
Dengue took lives of as many as 14 more persons in Lahore, and one more in Karachi on Saturday. The dead included a 30-year-old constable of chief minister's Elite Force squad Jehanzeb, five women and a child.
Another 661 people were tested positive for the deadly virus, pushing the tally up to around 10,000.
The PM office confirmed that a WHO Dengue Fever Expert team is reaching Islamabad on Sunday. The team of experts will recommend measures to get rid of breeding sites and vector control measures.
Another team of experts from Indonesia has also been invited by the the Pakistan Government to help the authorities in finding out effective measures to control the fever.
The Punjab Government has granted Rs. 20 million to each hospital to to provide out of the ordinary treatment to dengue patients.
Last year, more than 4,000 dengue positive patients were detected in Karachi alone, with twenty-five of those eventually succumbed to the deadly virus.
