Earlier, UAE Minister of Economy Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri and Britain's Minister of Trade and Investment Lord Stephen Green signed a joint statement during the second meeting of joint economic commission between two nations held in the capital. Both sides asked for the need of doing more efforts on trade front by increasing cooperation between investors for trade to grow further.

The statement also underlines the importance of protection of investments and technical cooperation as highlighted by working groups operating for trade promotion.

Al Mansouri expressed, "Our bilateral trade has continued to grow: our mutual exports and imports now stand at almost ten billion pounds. A figure, we agreed at the last JEC, to increase to 12 billion pounds. We are on track to reach that target, and are continually finding new ways to facilitate and stimulate business between our countries."
