National Cholesterol Week to raise awareness

cholesterolNational Cholesterol Week is here to spread awareness about cholesterol levels among older adults as more can be learnt from this week.

There are various underlying dangers of cholesterol and an aim to bring them to light through National Cholesterol week.

Poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle can lead to cholesterol levels according to chief executive of Heart UK, Jules Payne.

She added, “There are things that people can do. Once you know you have got it you can actually address the matter. People with inherited-high cholesterol need to go and see their GP and get treated.”

When it comes to cholesterol know-hows, British are not too aware and this has been stated by a charity.

There are false beliefs among about 40 per cent of respondents who stated that it happens due to over drinking and this can be inherited also but 60 per cent people did not know about this.

Only two per cent people stated that it was a major health concern for them and a cholesterol check has been taken by half of Brits and more needs to be done.
