To make the standard of care better, from 2013, several dementia champions will be at work across the country for doing so.
About 300 frontline healthcare staff from various hospitals will be put to work as they will get recruited for the programme funded by the Scottish Government.
These people will be expected to make sure that needs of those who are suffering from dementia are met.
About 100 people this year are set to be trained as a contract has been awarded to the University of the West of Scotland and Alzheimer Scotland and they will work across the NHS and local authorities.
Across the country, about five Alzheimer Scotland dementia nurse consultants have already been appointed and for each NHS board there might be a nurse consultant appointed as discussions for this are on.
Scotland and the Scottish Government have given joint funding for the scheme to aid the programme taking place.
Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said, “It is estimated that up to 82,000 people in Scotland have dementia and we expect that number to double over the next 25 years.”
