Pfizer Aims to Become Sole Distributor of Medicines

Pfizer Aims to Become Sole Distributor of MedicinesThe National Pharmaceutical Services Association has organised "No Monopoly on Medicines" movement this year, after the declaration made by Pfizer who plans supply the medicines directly to retailers rather than getting it supplied through distributors.

The company plans to break the chain that was involved in distributing the medicines to various shopkeepers worldwide. Sunbury Terry White Chemist co-owner Mick Linton, fears that like Pfizer many other medicine manufacturing companies could follow the same strategy, which could result in an inconvenient access to a variety of medicines. He further added that Pfizer and various other companies were planning to take such a move to seek personal benefits.

As per Mr. Linton, "If it happens to be a Friday and we've run out, we might not get it until Monday or Tuesday afternoon. Under the CSO we can guarantee it will be in tomorrow". The pharmaceutical shops face a major problem as
30 to 40% of medicines demanded are from Pfizer and this is why the shopkeepers need to make it available.

Spokesperson of Pfizer, Helen Corcoran revealed that the company has already received 300,000 orders after implying the new form of distribution. She further stated that company produced 60 important medicines, which they distributed along with the order in all medical shops.
