Asthma Might Be Cured By Rheumatoid Arthritis Medicine

Asthma Might Be Cured By Rheumatoid Arthritis MedicineIt has been revealed by a recent study that medications that are usually used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis might actually prove helpful for the patients suffering from asthma. The recent research has found two genetic variations that proved to be linked with the two diseases. This study was conducted by the Queensland institute of Medical Research situated in Brisbane.

The team discovered that the genes that are linked with signaling molecules that work in contact with the functioning of the immune system are actually the one responsible for the development of asthma in humans.

Recent studies have found that the drugs used for the cure of arthritis might help in bringing down the severity and frequency of the asthma attacks.

Thousands of genomes from various asthma patients were examined and the genetic mutations that were the reason for the spread of asthma were made clear. This could prove really helpful in finding new cures for the disease.

"Our results are consistent with the contribution of hundreds or potentially thousands of variants with weak effects on asthma risk, which can be identified through larger GWAS as already shown with other diseases”, revealed the scientists.
