Ruth Cosgrove is expecting her second child and still indulges in light drinking and states that she enjoys it a lot.
The 36-year-old expectant mother has been indulging in slight wine drinking during both her pregnancies.
She feels that with light drinking, her baby will not be harmed at all and an attempt being made by the Murdoch Children's Research Institute in Melbourne has launched a major study to get to the bottom of whether low to moderate levels of alcohol are harmful or not to a baby will satisfy the doubts of many like Ruth.
According to her, she has had discussions with her doctor and has been told that light drinking is OK during pregnancy.
She said, “I don't drink much at all, I just have the odd glass of wine every week or two ... I do it because I enjoy it. I'm not advocating drinking during pregnancy, but I think the decision comes down to personal choice.”
For the study about 2000 women who are pregnant will be included for asking questions based on their drinking habit, general health and diet during pregnancy.
