Kilojoule count will now be displayed for the ingredients used to make food by McDonald's in Australia. Recently McDonald’s in the UK announced to display the calorie content in front of all the food items in its menu and now this will be done in the OZ too.
A spokesperson for McDonald's Australia told Franchising, “We’ve always been committed to ensuring we provide information so that our customers can make informed food choices. We were the first Quick Service Restaurant to introduce nutrition labelling on our packaging in 2004.”
It was added that in McDonald’s website also this information already exists and this step will just be a step further. Other information available on the website is about specific dietary needs being addressed.
Reports state that obesity is on a rise and making people aware of what they eat is very important making fast food chains taking some decisions.
By reading the number of calories present in food items, people can know what they are eating and will help them in making the right choice also helping them keep extra calories away.
