FNC campaigning begins

Campaign for the Federal National Council elections is all set to start on Sunday. The National Election Commission (NEC) urged all those engaged in poll activities to abide by all the rules and regulation for avoiding unnecessary embarrassment.

Tareq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of State for FNC Affairs, a member of the NEC and the Head of the Election Management Committee underlined the importance of campaign and added, “Campaigning is a key tool that candidates use to present themselves and their electoral programs, their views, expectations and plans before the voters.”

He reminded everyone the regulations put in place for smooth conduct of elections. NEC formulated the rules and regulations governing the electioneering in line with the urban development and laws of the country.

Nominee should not incite religious, sectarian, tribal and ethnic intolerance towards others during the campaigning process. Candidates are also cautioned against spending more than Dh2 million on promotional and propaganda campaign.
