To conclude the findings, the registry gathered medical data on cancer since 1994, and observed that the number of diagnosed cancer cases has increased by around 50% from the mid-1990s. Out of 30 surveyed European countries, Ireland has credited top most position for prostate cancer cases, although the cancer survival rates were observed to be improved as compared to previous years.

“If progress is to be made in reducing the incidence of lung cancer in Ireland in the future, renewed efforts must be made to reduce tobacco use, especially in women”, added another report outlined with a focus on lung cancer. The report has blamed smoking and notified that it accounts for not less than 90% lung cancer cases.

While commenting on the study conclusions, director of the registry, Dr. Harry Comber, has stressed on the need of some serious measures to address the frightening issue, which continues to execute women globally.
