Last night all Nurofen Plus pills were recalled as it is being suspected that the painkiller has been spiked.
In packets of the pills, other drugs have been found in about five cases.
In these fives incidents, one packet was contaminated with epilepsy drug Neurontin and four were contaminated with powerful anti-psychotic Seroquel XL.
The point of concern is that about eight million pills are in customers' hands. There were reports that last night the production of Nurofen was halted.
An investigation into this incident has been launched by the police.
In South and Central London, in packets of Nurofen Plus prescription drug Seroquel XL was found and these were sold at three Boots stores.
There were reports of these pills been taken by two people but no reports about them falling ill could be confirmed.
A spokesman for Reckitt Benckiser, who make Nurofen Plus, said that there was no replacement of individual tablets.
He added, "Sabotage is suspected and we are working with the police on a formal investigation to find the person or persons responsible. Distribution of Nurofen Plus has been halted."
