Dubai to host opening competition of Fina Swimming World CupDubai is all set host opening leg of Fina Swimming World Cup on October 7-8 at the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Complex. The other tournaments of seven-leg World Cup series would take place in Stockholm, Moscow, Berlin, Singapore, Beijing and Tokyo.

Dubai has a special reason to cheer as it would inspire budding players of UAE to become prospective champions. Jay Benner, the head coach of the UAE swimming team hailed the development and projected its far reaching effects on Dubai's sports. He hoped that the home turf would prove a learning curve for Emiratis under his watch.

He urged the players to tap the opportunity to learn from very best of international players Benner added, "The hope in the long-term is that our swimmers being exposed to seriously world class performers will inspire them, and those who come behind, to push on and be able to compete at that level."

The winners of two-day World Cup would be awarded US$1,500 followed by cash prize of $1,000 and $500 by the second and third position holders. Sports authorities are working tirelessly to promote swimming all over the Middle East.
