“Women Against Lung Cancer” Drive to Spread Awareness

“Women Against Lung Cancer” Drive to Spread AwarenessIn a recent survey, it has been revealed that a large number of British women have undermined the risk of lung cancer. The survey report involving 2,000 women showed that four in five women were not even aware about the fact that lung cancer is the UK’s biggest cancer killer in women, as they were under the impression that breast and cervical cancer caused more female deaths.

Ironically, a significant number of females were not even aware about the survival rate of lung cancer, which indicates that lung cancer has largely been downplayed by women.

Reacting to the report, Cancer specialist Marianne Nicolson, from Aberdeen, said that though a large number of women are aware about screening process of breast cancer, lung cancer has been largely overlooked by them.

“The results of this survey show that women are less likely to see their doctor urgently if they display symptoms of lung cancer, such as a constant cough”, Marianne said.

It has been reported that a large number of lives can be saved from lung cancer if it’s diagnosed at right time.

In the wake of the survey results, a drive has been launched in the name of “Women Against Lung Cancer” to spread awareness regarding the signs and symptoms of lung cancer.
