Why Do So Many Mums Stop Breastfeeding?

Why Do So Many Mums Stop Breastfeeding?A majority of new mothers, more than half to be precise, are no longer interested in breastfeeding by the time their child goes six weeks old, in the face of the entire recommendations and counseling that 'breast is best' for their little one.

So, why exactly do they discontinue breastfeeding?

Earlier in June, the NHS Information Centre released a shocking list of statistics to reveal that a majority of new mothers were accepting the breastfeeding counseling on board. It announced that nearly 8 out of 10 mums in the United Kingdom initiated breastfeeding their infants, as compared to six out of 10 in 1990.

However, the figures broadcasted this week claimed that a majority of mums in England discontinue breastfeeding when their darling turns six to eight weeks old.

Recently, researchers found that women who breastfeed their babies are less likely to suffer critical health issues, including diabetes, ovarian and breast cancer.

Los Angeles County, where only a third of mothers depend exclusively on breast milk to nurture their babies, is apparently ranked 43rd in the state for select breastfeeding. Experts believe that the conditions and modern breast feeding trend is no good news for the health of newborns. There is a constant reduction in the number of mothers nourishing their baby with breast feeding, despite research and myriad studies explaining momentous health profits for mother and child along with a diminution in money spent on healthcare.
