Controversy over Article on Nanoparticles

Controversy over Article on NanoparticlesEveryone knows the benefits of sunscreen but a few knows that the sunscreen is made from nanoparticles which are derived from fruits.

In an article, published in the American Chemical Society's weekly newsmagazine, it has been informed that about 50,000 of these particles taken together are equal to the width of a human hair.

In the article, the Editor of the magazine, Lauren K. Wolf has highlighted the usefulness of the nanoparticles. According to him, the particles shield the skin of one from the harmful UV rays and thus protect one from skin cancer.

It has been informed that the particles are made up of oxide or titanium dioxide, which produces longer-lasting protection and less skin irritation for individuals with sensitive skin.

Besides, when mixed with other contents of the sunscreen, it gives the user a whitish look.

The article published in the magazine has stirred controversies as questions are being raised over the particles being dissolved by the skin.

In the article, Wolf has given scientific reasons to support his article saying that these particles can be dissolved in the skin and could cause side effect.

However, there are few scientists who are opposing the article saying that the particles can’t be dissolved.
