Herbal supplements are generally considered as safe to use because they are naturally made.
But, the fact is that these most of the times have a tendency to interact with prescribed medications and thus they cause several side effects to the users, causing certain illnesses to them.
Earlier in April, while introducing new EU rules, it was made mandatory for every medicine to indicate about certain warnings it carries, but despite this, the herbal medicines lack any such kind of safety warnings.
For determining that whether herbal supplements included safety and usage information prior to the introduction of new legislation or not, the researchers examined five commonly used herbal supplements and found that most of them lack behind in supplying any such kind of important information on their use.
However, most of the herbal products are classed as foods and this is the reason why they generally fall outside of the regulations. Well, retailers are still allowed to sell remaining stock of regulated products and that too without updating the package.
