276 new teachers to join schools in Abu Dhabi

Faculty shortage in Abu Dhabi’s schools would be a thing of past from this session. Abu Dhabi Education Council [ADEC] recruited as many as 276 new teachers for the subjects of information technology, physical education, arts and music.

Shortage of teachers for nursery classes has also been addressed by the authorities from this academic session by recruiting new faculty members, more from Emirates in line with government’s Emiratisation plan announced in June.

Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, the executive director of School Operations at ADEC, told, "The recruitment plan for teaching and administrative staff gives more priority to the appointment of UAE Nationals.” He said that recruited teachers passed stringent tests and only 600 out of total 800 teachers have met the requirements for recruitment.

Forty nine teachers have been selected from Arab countries for teaching physical education.

Mohammad Salem Al Daheri, Adec's Executive Director of the School Operations Sector, said, "While Adec is seeking to attract qualified staff in order to effectively contribute to the implementation of its 10-year Strategic Plan aiming at developing the educational system in the emirate of Abu Dhabi… this recruitment plan, which is for both teaching and administrative positions, will prioritise the appointment of UAE nationals."
