It seems that the scare of meningococcal is not going to leave the turf of Queensland so early. After getting confirmed reports of six people getting diagnosed with the disease in north and far north Queensland in recent weeks, another case of a 17-month-todler had caught the attention of Queensland Health.
Though, the baby was reported to be in stable condition in Cairns Base Hospital, another two confirmed cases for the same were reported to be on the way of recovery.
However, sigh of relief can be taken after the two suspected cases in Cairns were reported to have given a green signal from the disease. Though risk to the general community is feeble, getting in close touch with an infected patient could substantiate the risk to a great level.
Reports have confirmed that the 70-year-old woman, who was diagnosed on Magnetic Island, is recovering now in Townsville Hospital. Even a close friend of the 18-year-old Gurpreet Singh, victim from James Cook University's Townsville campus, is recovering better now.
Moreover, Queensland Health Spokesman Dr. Steven Donohue said: "Whether or not there's a more nasty type of meningococcal germ around at the moment that's something we're just going to have to check on”.
