If you think that by opting for a weight loss program, you can be benefited, than it is high time for you to think again. Recently, medical experts have revealed that an obese person’s body is prone to gain more weight after opting for a weight-loss program.
Joseph Proietto, an obesity expert and a Professor at Melbourne University, has accused the government of wasting its money by running weight loss campaigns. The experts have alleged that obesity is the result of poor life style. People are required to be made aware of healthy life style which should include rich nutritional food and regular exercise.
Comments by Joseph Proietto, published in the Medical Journal of Australia, have caused sensation among all the people. In the journal, he has said that weight loss in obese people only led to changes in energy expenditure and hunger-controlling hormones that encouraged weight gain. He wrote, “It is likely that it is these physiological adaptations that make it so difficult to maintain weight loss… Importantly … in those who are already obese, public health messages encouraging people to eat healthy food and exercise are unlikely to have a long-term impact on their weight”.
He further said that the surgeries for weight loss are far better than any weight loss program. He has recommended people to go for surgeries as surgeries tend to protect one from the harmful effect of obesity like high blood pressure and type-2 diabetes.
