Police Launches Raid in Perth and Karratha

KronicPolice has launched raids in Perth and Karratha to seize suspected synthetic cannabis. Yesterday, the detectives seized around 100 packets of a substance marketed as Kronic Black from two adult shops in Malaga. The New Zealand’s manufacturer of Kronic black claims that the substance contains a re-worked chemical compound that does not fall out of the new State or Federal laws.

In another raid, the Karratha detectives last week seized about 1kg of a substance which was suspected to be synthetic cannabis.

Police have sent the seized substances from both raids to the ChemCentre testing laboratory for analysis.

Mental Health Minister Helen Morton said that she expected to see imitation products introduced after the ban, but now she wants to add the product to the banned substance list. Ms. Morton also said, “We tried to find a method in the legislation to ban all potential substances but we were unable to do that”.

The Steve Allsop from the National Drug Research Institute has called for the products to be regulated rather than dealing with the manufacturers of the product. He added that the authorities must develop a system which shows that the product is risky for both the users as well as the manufacturers.
