The health officials of Queensland have witnessed a number of influenza cases in the region, therefore, wanted the people of the region to get vaccinated against the flu. As per a data of Queensland Health, around 160 people in the West Moreton and South Burnett had contracted influenza.
The number of influenza cases had increased by 9.5% in comparison to previous year. This year, 2,838 cases had been identified in Queensland for having influenza which was 465 previous year. As per Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young, “Vaccination is the best protection against this disease and I urge people to visit their local GP or immunization provider”.
The Queensland Health had provided free vaccinations scheme for the pregnant women, people above 65 years of age, aboriginal people who were 15years and above and infants less than 6 months old or even for people who suffered from persistent medical conditions.
The Queensland Health had decided to provide free annual vaccinations against three influenza’s namely H3N2 strain, H1N1 strain and B strain. The overall production of seasonal flu vaccines is expected to be 1.7 billion doses by 2015, 11 new producers of vaccines will launch in the developed nations, revealed World Health Organization.
