Queensland’s new payroll system controversy still continues as the nurses’ union reported that each fortnight, thousands of nurses were still being underpaid or overpaid or not paid at all.
After feeling the hype of the controversy, Premier Anna Bligh ordered a pause on regaining the overpayments, while the unpaid salaries problems were sorted out.
The agreement also included extra focus on truthful under-payments and a self-governing workplace ombudsman would be appointed.
Union Secretary, Beth Mohle said that the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission would be managing the deal.
She further added that the union's endorsement would largely be dependent upon the fact that they would be meeting all the harmony phases as the government would not force the staff to hand over any received overpayments interest.
She added, "We will be regularly going to the commission regularly and will be giving true reports to make sure it stays on track and the officials at the QNU will certainly be making sure that that occurs and we will be reporting back to members on a regular basis about that".
Besides all this, earlier, in one of the cases, the mismanaged payroll system had paid two dead nurses and put one of them on a work register and one more employee got an extra $100,000, which would be tracked after the suspension.
