Does Drinking 8 Glasses of Water a Day Count?

Glasses-WaterAccording to reports, a medical practitioner has referred to the general advice of drinking 8 glasses of water a day as to prevent dehydration, in order to avoid certain infections as majorly absurd.

Also, of recent there is no clear evidence of the benefits from drinking increased amounts of water, though the ‘we-don't-drink-enough-water’ myth has long been supported by many including the NHS.

The Glasgow GP Margaret McCartney stated that “While many schools also feel it appropriate to insist that pupils are accompanied to school by a water bottle, other organizations, often with vested interests, reinforce this message”.

However, Hydration for Health, initiated by the French food giant DANONE, makers of bottled water, recommends 1.5 to 2 liters of water daily as the most plain and healthiest hydration advice that can be given as it claims that even minor dehydration contributes to the development of numerous diseases.

Moreover, McCartney expressed that there was no ‘high quality published evidence’ to support the claims, though there are some conditions that benefited from drinking plenty water in people, like recurrent kidney stones, as other evidence for avoiding diseases is said to be ‘conflicting’.
