Craving for Salt Excites the Brain Like Addiction To Other Hard Drugs

Craving for Salt Excites the Brain Like Addiction To Other Hard DrugsHard drugs like cocaine and opium may have only enrolled till now for the addiction to human body that can even cause adverse affects on the human health but for now, the salt has seemingly become the new entrant in this league.

The scientists have now claimed that craving for salt is as addictive as the addiction for hard drugs like opium, cocaine and tobacco. The study has proved with its findings that the same area of the brain gets into activation when deprived from salt which would have otherwise activated in the case of any other hard drug, which means salt is as addictive as those hard drugs.

The findings of the study conducted by Australian and US scientists also made it very clear that why even after the constant pressure from the doctors, the patients suffering from problems like blood pressure and the problems concerning heart are unable to remain without consuming diet with adequate salt, even when they know it can further worsen their health.

The experiments were vigilantly done on some mice that were kept on low-salt diets and the other that were fed with salt drip. After having made the comparison between the two, it was found that the brains of the creatures who were starved of salt for three days had their brain cells more activated and to have produced proteins just similar to the addiction to the drugs such as heroin, cocaine and nicotine.
