Women with Bad Oral Health Could Delay Pregnancy

OralRecently, a unique fact has been revealed out by few dental experts. They say that a girl’s dental health has a lot to do with her pregnancy status. Yes, bad gums and dirty teeth can hinder the process of pregnancy and therefore it is important for girls to brush their teeth properly, if they want to step into motherhood.

Dental experts have discovered that it takes almost two more months to conceive if women have some sort of gum disease. In general women with healthy mouth just take 5 months to get pregnant, whereas in case of those with unhealthy mouth this time is stretched to 7.1 months.

Infected gums actually spread the infection throughout the body and this is the reason why dirty teeth are known as a sign of poor personal hygiene and a bad diet.

As told by Professor Roger Hart, of University of Western Australia, during a reproduction conference in Stockholm, the impact of oral health is as big as that of obesity. He said “All women should have gum disease treated before trying to conceive. It usually involves no more than four dental visits”.
