The Cardiff’s Race for Life was held on Saturday in which hundreds of supporters took part along with their friends and family. All these participants were dressed in pink to raise awareness about the deadly breast cancer.
Hundreds of women walked, ran and jogged in the fields around Cardiff’s Blackweir to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. The race started at 10 a. m. on Saturday and the participants completed their 5km course.
Nic Clarke, of Cancer Research UK, said, “Race for Life in Cardiff is a unique celebration of sisterhood and pride, the atmosphere is amazing”. Last year, 12,324 women took part in Race for Life in Cardiff and raised nearly £592,000. This year’s event is expected to raise more than £1m for cancer research and treatment.
The race was full of fun and entertainment and participants received a massage after completing the course, face painting and bouncy castles. Fudge and cupcake stalls were also organized for the participants so that they could enjoy the exotic deserts after completing the race.
The funds raised through the event will be utilized by the Cancer Research UK for providing treatment to cancer patients.
