An email, from what many people have dubbed the “e-mother-in-law from hell” has gone viral in blogs and in the media since Heidi Withers, aged 29, forwarded the email she received from her future mother-in-law to her friends.
Heidi’s friends forwarded the message onwards, and soon, friends of friends and bloggers and reporters were giving their opinion on what some would call a slightly “critical” assessment of Heidi by her future mother-in-law.
As a result, a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law confrontation has been quickly brought into the public eye and it has ignited much discussion online about the relationship between a bride and her husband’s family.
The email was sent after Heidi paid a visit to her future husband’s family. After being put-off by Heidi’s behavior, her future mother-in-law, Carolyn Bourne, decided to send her an email urging her to “take some guidance from experts with utmost haste” in order to improve her manners.
The email outlined all of the behaviors that Mrs. Bourne found inappropriate. She criticized Heidi for sleeping in, taking second portions at mealtime without permission, and for setting her sights too high for wedding plans that are “beyond her means”.
Mrs. Bourne finished her message with, “one could be accused of thinking that Heidi Withers must be patting herself on the back for having caught a most eligible young man. I pity Freddie”.
