If hospital chiefs don’t improve patient care, they will face a hefty fine. The hospitals have already received a number of warnings that have gone ignored. The East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust has continuously failed to provide people the protection and safety they have the right to.
The Care Quality Commission has already voiced their anger with the NHS trust and has slammed them with changes that so urgently need to be made. Regional Director at the Commission, Roxy Boyce states: “Despite the fact we have raised these concerns with the trust previously, they have not addressed them satisfactorily”.
There have been some improvements made but it’s far from enough. It seems that hospitals are not making the best improvements that they can and this means that very serious consequences can happen. Other than the fines that the CQC are implementing, patient’s lives are also at risk.
The warning that the CQC is announcing is hoping to make the message clear to all trust that changes need to be addressed as soon as possible or they will face serious consequences. However, some hospital chiefs think that the issues the commission has addressed have been already taken care of.
