There has been a voluntary recall of 24 refrigerator models by LG electronics in Australia. This has been given out in a report by the General Manager Sales, Michael Doyle.

He revealed that there was an issue of discontentment with the quality of the refrigerators in the year 2010. He said that they have taken this huge step bearing in mind the sort of consequences the firm might have to face due to the same. He said they were aware that that it might take some negative impacts on the firm, in the short term, but the long term effects would be for the favor of the firm.

These side by side refrigerators had to be called off because they had many possible scares related to them. They have recalled these because they believe that the safety and security of the customers is beyond any profit they can achieve. They are of the view that no risk is acceptable for the customers and that they need to develop such methods that can safeguard them, and only then launch these models again.

“The affected models were sold Australia-wide through all major white goods retailers between January 2002 and December 2005”, says Fair Trading Deputy Commissioner, Steve Griffin.
