Pregnant Women Treated Unfairly At Workplaces

Pregnant WomenIt has been revealed, according to a recent report, that as many as third of the pregnant women in the nation are treated unfairly at work. There are a number of statistics that reveal the reality of this scenario in the workplace.

The research has revealed that 5% of the women were treated so unfairly that they had to give up their job during pregnancy. There was either partiality at work, or the women were made to work in uncomfortable circumstances.

These things were revealed in the detailed study that was conducted by the Economic and Social Research Institute. The women had to bear the rude attitude of their employers, they were even told to take maternity leaves so that they were away from office till the time they were pregnant. Further, they were not even treated well when they returned to work after their maternity leave.

“The majority of mothers with young children and women of childbearing age are now in the workforce and their experience at work during and after pregnancy make this an important issue for the workplace and employees”, said co-author Helen Russell of the ESRI.

This sort of discrimination is very wrong and there are serious steps that need to be taken in regard of the same so that women are treated fairly at all times.
