Ticagrelor Cuts Heart Deaths
Ticagrelor Cuts Heart Deaths

It has been reported that a new drug has the capability to stop heart related deaths and can save one in five deaths from heart attack. This report was confirmed by a group of researchers.

They have claimed that if drug ticagrelor is used in place of clopidogrel, then one among 5 deaths can be stopped in a year. This research work was presented at the British Cardiovascular Society annual scientific conference in Manchester.

The drug, ticagrelor is available in the markets of UK from December 2010 onwards, but this drug is not adopted everywhere as it is very costly.

Professor Robert Storey, of the University of Sheffield, said, "These new findings provide yet further evidence in support of making the drug available to patients in the UK".

He claimed that many more lives could be saved if this drug is used extensively.

In another research, it was confirmed that heart attacks could also be prevented if magnets are used.

This research was conducted at the Temple University, which revealed that exposure to magnetic fields causes thinning of the human blood and thus prevents from being clogged and damage the blood capillaries and thus the heart attacks are kept away.
