The team of ten from the Hull Daily Mail was reported to have completed a charity trek, which involved mountain climbing to the top of Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon, with the aim of getting to the finish line in 24 hours.

However, they could not meet the 24 hours target as they were 7 hours late, whereas completed the challenge in 31 hours 20 minutes.

The team is reported to be made up of Editor John Meehan, his deputy Paul Hartley, Design Editor Ian Bond, Development Manager Pete Barnett, and Business Editor Catherine Lea, along with the Education Reporter Katie Knass.

Also, the crime reporter, Adam Lovell, news reporters Kevin Shoesmith and Danny Longhorn, as well as production journalist Kate Dance, the adventure scout Chris Fenton and Kate’s husband Mark, also joined them.

Paul Hartley expressed that though the challenge seemed simple enough to accomplish in 24 hours, and they underestimated it because one needs to be fit, organized and lucky with the weather and traffic to come close towards achieving the goal.

Re-enacting their experience while climbing the mountains, Hartley said, “The light went and, for the last hour, we had to pick our way through the boulders and sharp rocks by torchlight”.

Moreover, the team is reported to have raised £5,000 for ‘Dove House Hospice’s Love You 2 Appeal’, the Daily Mail’s charity of the year, which aimed at raising £2.5 million to expand east Hull hospice.
