Anti-Tobacco Laws Should Be Strengthened

WHOReports from Xinhua have suggested that the World Health Organization has requested the Asian Government that they should pass the anti-tobacco laws in order to prevent untimely deaths due to smoking hazards.

Statistical reports have found that around 1 million deaths occur in China every year. It was found that the total smoking cost in South Korea has reached $6.1 billion.

According to the statement issued on the World No Tobacco Day, WHO’s Senior Officer, Shin Young-soo said that around 900 million people are at a risk from smoking and the south Asian countries should pass the bill.

"In our region, it is estimated that close to half of all men smoke and half of all women and children are regularly exposed to the deadly toxins of second-hand smoke at home and in public places", he said.

It has also been reported that out of the six heavily smoking zones in the world, the Western Pacific Region has the highest number of people who smokes a cigarette.
