Derbyshire GP in Court after Being `Sucked In’ By Attractive Cancer Patient

The General Medical Council is hearing a sexual abuse case in which a Locum GP is accused of having used his position to have sexual intercourse with a cancer patient in September 2009. The women called the out-of-hours service claiming she had taken 14 ibuprofens in 24 hours. When the doctor arrived, the women opened the door in what the court later called a `odd arrangements’ of clothes, featuring pink high heels, refused to talk about medical conditions and had already run a bath.

Even though the patient was clearly intoxicated and confused, GP Jonathan Ivan Miller agreed to help her into the bathtub, washing her back and hair. Afterwards, the pair had unprotected sex in the bath, after which Miller got dressed and left.

The Derbyshire GP admitted that his actions had been wrong and ‘sexually motivated’ and quoted self-esteem issues. But since the women had pleaded him to stay and help her he had let himself be ‘sucked in’ by the attractive
40-years-old blonde. “She said I had done an awful lot for her. I thought I was helping her”, said Miller, who pleaded guilty.

The women, whose identity is protected by the court, told the police that Miller had raped her. The hearing continues.
