Annual Walk Safely to School Day will be celebrated and more school children will be seen walking the streets than usual around the Gladstone region as they will participate in the event.
The event is happening for the 12th time and for 1 years and it is aimed at tackling obesity in school kids as it encourages children and parents to walk to school safely regularly every day to stay fit and fight obesity.
Principal of the Tannum Sands State School Janelle Ibell stated that it is being expected that the event will be attended by plenty of families.
She said, “Even if you live too far away to walk to school, you can park a bit further away and walk the kids in.”
For keeping obesity away at least 60 minutes of physical exercise is a must every day and this will also help various health problems that might affect them in later life away.
Dangerous vehicles are often seen congesting ways around school and walking will also help avoid this as less people will drive vehicles and carbon emissions produced by idling cars will also be avoided.
