Many countries have increased the taxes on tobacco and even advertising to ban smoking in their respective countries. However, Australia has some different plans this year to decrease the use of cigarettes.

Australia’s Health Minister, Nicola Roxon told the reporters that they are trying their best to wake people from the side effects and diseases caused by smoking tobacco.

Now, the government had ordered cigarette companies to change the wrapper of their cigarettes and instead of using trendy designs and colourful packets, they are advised to pack cigarettes in by dull, dark olive packs covered in health warnings, with none of the familiar logos, just the brand names in small, plain type.

By taking this step, people should become aware about the side effects, diseases caused by smoking, and they decrease smoking.

This step can also affect the cigarette marketing campaigns by a huge amount.

However, banning tobacco is not easy in all the countries as these are not the only drugs which are easily available, people should be made aware of alcohol and other drugs also which can lead to the death of the person.

Tobacco itself results in deaths of more than 15,000 Australians annually and treating smoking related diseases costs more than $31 billion.
